Geez, what's up with movies today?
Took my wife to see Twilight Eclipse the other night.
What a complete waste of money. I figured werewolves,
vampires, this couldn't be a bad movie.
Boy was I dead wrong, It's nothing but a chick flick love
story with child actors.
Special effects aren't even that spectacular.
Movie in a nutshell:
The girl can't decide between the vampire, which is what
she wants I guess, and the werewolf who really wants her.
Then their's kinda goth vampire gal that does break up the
monotony, but only for a second.
Anyway, the vampires and werewolves band together to
fight a group called the Newborn Army, a bunch of newly
born vampires who absolutely need to get the girl.
Pretty much the END, passing on the next movie. :-)
Don't buy the DVD, rent it if you are a glutton for
punishment. It will save you some money, and at least
when you get overly bored, you can turn off your player. :-)
But then again, I'm not much of a movie goer and this is
definitely not the only movie I've been sorely disappointed
with.
Avatar was another one. I thought the acting and story
line was rather, Hmmm crappy. :-)
But the special effects made up for it's down falls. :-)
Any movie you've seen you would to like to critique?

Those... things... vampires.
I do like that they sparkle though. Sparkles are neat! And adjectives. Adjectives are great... she uses a LOT of them in her books. So many adjectives...

you know, i think i liked the Twilight Saga better when it was the Underworld trilogy. maybe if Kristen Stewart wore leather goth attire and shot off silver bullets.......

I loved Underworld and Buffy.
I'm not surprised wateriestfire is a Twilight fan--it seems like exactly the kind of thing she'd like, either on its own merits, or just to be different and throw people off. Either way, it's brilliant, and I love her for it. *sniffle*

No offense, Simm, but if you wanna critique movies, you've gotta be more substantial than that. </3
Also, were you not aware that Eclipse (and all the other movies in the Twilight saga) is a book? An awful, awful book, at that (no offense, Water). I'm just wondering, 'cause you probably wouldn't have wasted your money if you'd known it was a book/what type of book it was (don't even get me started on how much I hate this series and Stephanie Meyer).
I was in love with Avatar though. Even if it's just blue furries reenacting Pocahontas, I thought it was pretty brilliant.
Buffy and Underworld are super awesome, though.

Sadly, I did know the Twilight saga is a set of books, 4 of
them as I recall. No I haven't read them, nor have I seen
any of the other movies. :-)
I'm more of Tom Clancy individual when it comes to reading
a book. His novels not the short stories. :-)

I was more just picking on you, 'cause the books are worse than the movies (I say worse because Team Cameraman, ftw. Watch the scene where Jacob turns into a werewolf for the first time in the second movie and you'll see what I mean. They did a good job making the movies *look* pretty, which is why I can almost, ALMOST, sit through them.)
I haven't read anything in a really long time. I should get back on that.

If I have to choose it's the movies over the books. I'm currently reading Eclipse because... I can't have an opinion unless I read/watch.
Plus... half naked boys make me happy when I go to the movies. Yes, I stare at Taylor Launter's abs.

Books are almost always better than the movies :-)
I have read all all the Harry Potter books, and like the
Tom Clancy novels made into movies. Their is a ton of crap
left out in the movie.
Of course they have down size them, or the film would take
days to watch. :-)

The Harry Potter movies are one of the few instances where I enjoy the movies more than the books. Of course, I got stuck on the 4th novel when I first attempted reading it and just couldn't get into it, so. I still think it's a good series, really imaginative, but I don't really feel the need to go back and re-read/finish it.
Also, Let the Right One In. I loved both immensely, but there were parts just so creepy in the book that I'm actually glad it wasn't included in the movie (and with good reason).

^Now that's some blaspheming right there. I mean the HP movies are good, but the books are so much more. I didn't even start reading the series until after the fourth movie was out. Generally, I tend to favor whichever I see/read first, but the books just put the films to shame. Especially later on, when more is being cut from the longer books.
I'm going to hate myself for admitting this, but the Twilight films weren't as bad as I was expecting. I just saw all three for the first time last weekend, partly because my girlfriend wanted me to see Eclipse with her, and partly because I just needed to know. For so long, I've heard so much about the Twihards, Twimoms, and whatnot. I saw a video of a mob of girls following Robert Pattinson on the street pleading with him, "Please, Robert! Please!" as though he were Jesus. That's creepy stuff. And from the other end is nothing but "sparkling vampires = totally gay". I just wanted to know what all the hubbub was about. Turns out, not that much. They weren't bad, they weren't great. Ashley Greene is super hot.
Now that that's out of the way, let me just say that Bella needs to get her shit together and stop leading Jacob on. He's a nice boy and he deserves better than her.

Spoilers: Jacob gets someone in the fourth book. Kind of.
I know this because my grandma is obsessed with the series.
Twilight fans make Trekkies look sane and well-adjusted (no offense to any trekkies here). The fans are part of what makes the series so completely unbearable. But that's what happens when you write novels targeted at fat, pimply, virgin goth-girls that spend all their time on VampireFreaks.com and fantasize about getting boned by their cold, sparkly, vampire boyfriends while they finger themselves at night.
Robert Pattinson isn't a bad guy - he's a pretty awesome actor, I've watched some of the indie-ish films he's been in. He also hates Twilight and the crazy fans. xD
I can sit through the Twilight movies, mostly because they're pretty and I have a hardon for pretty. They're well-filmed. Also, yeah, Ashley Greene is super hot. Other than that, though, the boys in the film do NOTHING for me, obvs, and Kristen Steward has rabbit dentures and sounds like a man, and she either looks disgusted or incredibly bored throughout the majority of the film. However, I read the first three books in high school by request of my (now ex-)girlfriend at the time. And throughout the entire time, I wanted to drive nails into my head in hopes that they'd hold my brain together to keep it from turning into complete mush. I swear that I'm a little bit dumber now than I was before I read those books. Movie? Yeah, I can dig it a little, and I'd probably dig it more if it involved more tits. Book? Kill it with fire.

At least the pedo werewolf gets some action after the two fail main characters miss with the mystical clothes-hanger.

There are a lot of poorly written works of fiction in the world aside from Twilight. Consider Frazetta's Death Dealer, the collected works of James Joyce, almost any North American localization of a JRPG, The Eye of Argon, The Bible, and anything written by R.A. Salvatore in the last five years.
It seems unfair to rip on Twilight; it does suck something fierce, but there are things that suck a bit more.
